FREEROOTS

Growth | Expansion | Versatility

FREEROOTS is an eight-month professional development program for emerging dancers who already have a solid technical foundation and are ready to expand their movement vocabulary, deepen their artistry, and discover their own way of moving.

Where FREEPULSE focuses on building the foundation, FREEROOTS is about expanding beyond it, exploring new movement languages, working with different artistic voices, and developing the versatility needed to navigate the professional dance world.

Through regular training in ballet, contemporary dance, yoga, partnering, and physical theatre, dancers continue to strengthen and refine their technique while being exposed to a wide range of movement practices, styles, and creative approaches.

A central part of FREEROOTS is the continuous exchange with different choreographers and teachers. Regular encounters with a diverse range of artists bring new perspectives, movement languages, and ways of working into the studio, offering dancers a broad and constantly evolving experience of contemporary dance.

Throughout the program, dancers will work on a large-group repertoire piece, gaining experience in learning, embodying, and adapting to existing choreography. They will also collaborate in a smaller group with emerging choreographers to develop a new creation from the initial idea through to the finished work.

Alongside these collaborative projects, dancers will have the opportunity to create their own short group choreographic works, supported by a mentor throughout the creative process. This gives them space to experiment, develop ideas, take creative risks, and begin shaping their own artistic voice.

Working with different choreographers, teachers, and creative collaborators develops essential qualities for today’s professional dance world: versatility, adaptability, openness, curiosity, speed of learning, and the ability to embody and shift between different movement languages.

FREEROOTS is where your foundation becomes a direction, your movement becomes a voice, and your roots begin to grow.
